AI-generated sensory profile for Black Square

◎ Appearance

Black Square presents a deep, opaque black body with minimal light transmission, characteristic of its 40 SRM designation. The dense foam head settles to a thin tan collar with strong lacing that clings to the glass walls. Carbonation appears restrained, appropriate for an Imperial Stout of this age and oak maturation.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with pronounced tannic oak notes, supported by rich dark chocolate and a subtle berry fruit undertone. Roasted grain and coffee emerge in the mid-ground, while the elevated alcohol (11% ABV) contributes gentle warming notes without harsh vapors. The overall impression is complex and layered, with oak dominating but not masking the underlying malt character.

◐ Taste

Entry is full-bodied and warming, with chocolate and oak tannins establishing the initial impression. Mid-palate reveals dark fruit complexity and a moderate bitter finish (65 IBU) that balances the richness without overwhelming. The alcohol warmth integrates smoothly, suggesting successful oak aging and suggests a beer built for contemplation rather than rapid consumption.
