🌍 Germany · Light Lager · One of 56 Light Lagers in hopIQ

Schmelzer Hoibe is a light lager with less alcohol than the brewery's Hell. It is named after the Schmelzer, the glassworker who mixed cullet, potash, quartz sand, lime and soda and fed the batch into the furnace in heat of around 50 °C; a Hoibe is Bavarian for half a litre. Tasters describe a golden beer with a soft, malty nose, grainy sweetness and a hint of fruit, a round body for its strength and a mild hop note in a short, refreshing finish.
