Regent Escobeer

Tap to rate

The late hop additions are strongly aromatic and bring the flavours and scents of the Caribbean and exotic fruit. This top-fermented 13° American-style IPA is brewed from barley and oat malt, hop products and brewery yeast. The brewery wanted to keep using malts other than barley and try something unconventional, and it explains how the IPA arose when beer spoiled on the long voyage to India.

◌ Aroma

The nose is dominated by vibrant late-hop aromatics: guava, mango, and passion fruit leap from the glass with genuine tropical intensity. Beneath the fruit sits a restrained maltiness from the oat adjunct—subtle grain sweetness without heaviness. Clean fermentation character allows the hop profile to shine without any solvent or yeast-derived notes.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with crisp, fruit-forward hop flavors—pineapple and tangerine—before settling into a smooth, moderately bitter finish. The oat malt contributes a soft, clean body without any cloying sweetness; the grain remains in the background, supporting rather than dominating. Bitterness builds steadily through the mid-palate and lingers as a dry, herbal note without harsh edges.

◑ Finish

The finish is clean and moderately long, with the bitter backbone persisting pleasantly without astringency. Citrus and resinous hop notes fade gradually, leaving a dry, refreshing aftertaste.
