Farnham White

Tap to rate

A fresh golden bitter with rich, earthy, peppery notes and a long, dry finish. It is brewed with fine English malts and whole flowers of Farnham White Bine, a once-common local hop the brewery revived in its own hop garden. The first crop was harvested on 17 September 2015 and went into this 4.0% beer, and the brewery says no one else grows the variety.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and malty, with soft English grain flavors establishing a rich base. Mid-palate develops a pronounced peppery bitterness from the whole flower hops, complemented by dry, slightly astringent tannins that heighten the earthy impression. The bitterness builds steadily rather than striking aggressively, creating layers of flavor rather than a single sharp edge.

◑ Finish

A long, persistent dry finish that lingers with herbal and peppery notes fading gradually into a clean, mineral aftertaste. The dryness prevents any cloying sweetness and leaves the palate refreshed and eager for the next sip.
