Netherlands·Alcohol-Free Pilsner
Tap to rate

An alcohol-free pilsener that foams, smells and tastes like a pils. Bavaria built a dedicated 0.0% brewing plant for it that removes the alcohol at very low temperature, so as little of the typical pils aroma and flavour as possible is lost. Traditional hops bring a fine pils bitterness. Brewed in Lieshout, Noord-Brabant.

◎ Appearance

A pale golden hue characteristic of the Pilsner style, achieved through light Malz selection and clean brewing practices. The beer presents excellent clarity with bright, lively carbonation that generates a dense, persistent white head with fine Schaumkleiden retention down the glass. The foam structure remains stable, indicating proper conditioning and carbonation levels.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with traditional noble-hop character—floral and slightly herbal notes from the carefully selected Edelhopfen varieties. A subtle sweetness from the Malz provides a delicate counterpoint without overwhelming the aromatic profile. The cryogenic alcohol-removal process has preserved the typical Pilsner hop expression remarkably well, presenting a clean, inviting bouquet free of off-flavours or resinous harshness.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with crisp, dry character and immediate noble-hop bitterness that carries through the mid-palate with excellent integration. The Malz backbone remains delicate and restrained, allowing the 22 IBU to express itself as fine, pervasive bitterness rather than harsh astringency. The finish is clean and refreshing, with a dry, lingering hop note that encourages another sip.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste persists with a pleasant hoppy dryness and subtle Edelhopfen character that gradually fades to clean mineral notes. The overall impression remains refreshing and balanced, with no cloying residue or alcohol-removal artefacts.

Serve at 4–7°C

Serve well-chilled at 4–6°C for maximum crispness. A pilsner served too warm loses its defining snap.

Pilsner glass

The tall, narrow pilsner glass preserves carbonation and showcases the golden clarity that defines the style.

Drink fresh and cold. Pilsners do not improve with age — within 3 months of packaging is ideal.

What is a Alcohol-Free Pilsner?
