What is the Torpedo device?
A stainless-steel cylinder Sierra Nevada designed to hold whole-cone hops that beer circulates through during conditioning. It extracts aroma without extra bitterness because the contact happens post-boil, at cold temperatures where alpha acids don't isomerise. Sierra Nevada uses it on Torpedo specifically and licences the design to other breweries.
Is Two Hearted really only Centennial?
Yes — the recipe is single-hop Centennial, listed on the label as a source of pride. That's unusual for American IPA (most use 3–5 hop varieties); Bell's chose to make the constraint itself part of the identity.
