Eskil presents as a deep, pitch-black pour with excellent clarity despite its dark complexion. The head forms dense and persistent, with fine Schaumkleiden clinging to the glass throughout the drinking experience. Carbonation is moderate and well-integrated, supporting a refined visual presence.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with herbaceous hop character—measured and aromatic rather than assertive—layered over roasted grain undertones. Belgian ale yeast contributes subtle fermented complexity, with gentle notes of dark fruit and a whisper of coffee from the dark Malz. The overall aromatic profile balances the crisp efficiency of a lager with unexpected esters from the unconventional yeast.

Entry is clean and smooth, allowing the roasted grain foundation to establish itself immediately. Mid-palate reveals the interplay between dark Malz character and yeast-driven notes, with coffee and subtle chocolate weaving through a crisp framework. Bitterness is present but restrained, providing structure without dominating the grain-forward profile.

The finish is dry and clean, with roasted notes lingering gently as the beer fades. Despite its dark appearance, the 5.6% alcohol keeps the overall impression light and sessionable.
